NY 17, From NY 26 to Chenango River

Erdman Anthony completed preliminary and final design for the rehabilitation of 13.3 kilometers of a four- and six-lane urban expressway. The project included survey and photogrammetric mapping, in-depth bridge inspection and evaluation, pavement evaluation and design, evaluation of nonstandard features and potential safety improvements, highway lighting assessment, and a design report detailing alternatives and addressing environmental issues. Final plans included the rehabilitation of 20 bridges, installation and upgrade of median barrier and guide rails, new under-drain and drainage improvements, and rubblizing of concrete pavement with asphalt resurfacing. Final plans also included safety improvements (such as speed-change lane lengthening, curve flattening, and lane balance), new overhead variable message signs, new high-mast lighting, and complex staged construction plans.
