Lawrence Road (CR 215) over Otis Creek

For this locally administered federal aid project, Erdman Anthony provided preliminary and final highway and bridge design, construction services, and construction inspection. The Lawrence Road Bridge over Otis Creek, built in 1929, was a 22-foot (6.6 m) long single-span concrete through-girder bridge with a concrete deck and floorbeams. The main deficiencies of the original bridge included spalling of structural concrete, substandard geometrics, and scour and bank erosion. The replacement bridge is a 23-foot (7 m) long, 37-foot (11.2 m) wide precast concrete superstructure. The three-sided box structure is supported on cast-in-place concrete footings with steel piles bearing on bedrock to alleviate scour concerns. The hydraulics at the site was improved by providing a slightly larger waterway opening and changing the skew angle of the superstructure. During construction, Erdman Anthony completed all documents and record plans, and verified contractor payments.
