2009 Preventative Maintenance

This project involved a $4.3 million pavement rehabilitation along nine county roads: Elmwood Avenue, Clover Street, Panorama Trail, S. Winton Road, Fetzner Road, Vintage Lane, Lee Road, Pixley Road & Ridgeway Avenue.  The project was split into two construction contracts and involved work in the Towns of Greece, Gates, Brighton, Henrietta and Penfield.

Preliminary design consisted of development of a design approval document to support the pavement rehabilitation program.  Activities performed included evaluation of existing conditions along each roadway corridor with respect to pavement deficiencies and assessment of roadside elements such as guide rail and clear zone.  An accident analysis was performed for each corridor.  The results of these studies were documented in nine separate project Design Reports.

Final design activities included development of striping plans, cost estimates and specifications.  In addition to pavement treatments, the plans include roadway striping, traffic signal loop replacements, curbing resets, drainage structure adjustment, drainage system cleaning, sign upgrades, guiderail replacements, and sidewalk ramp improvements. Design included development of road diet plans for Vintage Lane and Lee Road.  On Vintage Lane, the striping was modified from 4 travel lanes to 2 travel lanes with shoulders and a center two way left turn lane.  On Lee Road, the striping was modified from 4 travel lanes with a center two way left turn lane to 3 travel lanes with shoulders and a center two way left turn lane. In addition to preparation of plans, specifications and contract documents; a NYSDOT highway work permit and a right-of-entry permit for two CSX rail crossings was obtained.
