Monroe County Public Safety Building Renovation

Monroe County acquired the County Public Safety Building to consolidate units of the Monroe County Office of the Sheriff under one roof with spaces designed for future occupancy. It was proposed that the building be completely modernized. Erdman Anthony provided the engineering services to replace most of the existing nine-story building infrastructure including all power distribution, HVAC, lighting, data/telecomm, and fire alarm and security systems.

The security system included the design and installation of high-resolution network pan, tilt, zoom cameras and card-access equipment. The security system connected to the county-wide fiber-optic security network for central monitoring.

Our team conducted a complete building assessment to document all mechanical, electrical, telecomm, fire alarm, and security services. The assessment included a complete analysis of existing system conditions, life expectancy, and options for replacement.

Erdman Anthony supported the generation of a comprehensive master plan for the entire building through 100% occupancy. As part of this master plan, our team prepared a summary phasing chart for implementing the design and construction, including the considerable amount of asbestos removal that was required, and incorporating Monroe County in-house trades to complete a large portion of the work.
