I-95 (SR95, Section RS3)

Erdman Anthony provided construction inspection services for the $84 million rehabilitation of I-95 between Cottman Avenue and Academy Road within the city of Philadelphia. The project involved rebuilding the one-mile stretch of expressway, as well as the rehabilitation or reconstruction of six bridges within the project limits. Bridges rehabilitated included a 430-foot, four-span bridge over Pennypack Creek, a three-span bridge over Amtrak, and a 31-span viaduct over State Road. The project included removal of dual structures over an abandoned quarry. Built in 1965, the structures were replaced with compaction grouting and surcharge fill. Erdman Anthony managed a staff of up to 22 inspection personnel during peak construction and provided comprehensive inspection and documentation for all construction components of this critical project. Schedule, safety, and traffic control were keys to the project's success, given the volume of traffic and impact on large numbers of urban commuters.
