Stratton VA Plumbing Upgrades

Erdman Anthony was selected to design plumbing modernizations in various buildings at the Stratton VA Medical Center, a 55-year-old, 750,000 SF high-rise Medical Center. Many of the systems to be updated were original to the Medical Center's construction.

The project scope included:

  • Replacement of drain, waste, and vent piping in Buildings 1, 2, 3, & 4

  • Replacement of water isolation valves on branches from mains

  • Installation of check valves at mixing valves and the replacement of mixing valves

  • Condition evaluation of two existing 25,000 gallon water tanks and design replacement with pressure tanks and/or pumps

  • Replacement of tanks to improve circulation

  • Installation of air vents at the top of the low hot water zone

  • Condition evaluation of two existing house pumps and the replacement pumps

  • The upgrade of domestic hot and cold water systems to improve patient safety, water quality, system reliability, and efficiency

Ultimately, Erdman Anthony delivered a reliable, safe and efficient plumbing system for the delivery of health care for our nation's infirmed veterans.
