Route 5, Main Street

Erdman Anthony provided design and construction inspection services for the $30 million reconstruction of Main Street from Bailey Avenue (US 62) to the Scajaquada Expressway (NY 198) in the City of Buffalo. Aerial photogrammetry was provided to complement the survey and base mapping. Erdman Anthony composed a design report/environmental assessment and performed manual and automatic traffic counts, road history studies, highway capacity analyses, and accident investigations. In addition, Erdman Anthony was responsible for subsurface testing and analysis, bridge inspections, development projections, utility research, environmental review, public information meetings, historical investigations, and bike route analyses. Erdman Anthony coordinated with numerous federal, state, city, and private agencies, groups, and utilities. Construction documents for pavement replacement, widening, intersection realignment, drainage improvements, utility relocations, new traffic signals, bridge rehabilitation, maintenance of traffic plan, pavement markings, street signage, street lighting, and bike routes also were created by Erdman Anthony. Construction inspection for this contract included inspection staff specifically dedicated to community involvement to coordinate construction activities with businesses, community groups, and residents.
