I-80 Bridges PM

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, District 10-0 contracted with Erdman Anthony to provide construction observation and documentation services for the rehabilitation of five structures on Interstate 80 in Clarion and Jefferson Counties (Canoe Creek Bridges, Deer Creek Bridge and North Fork Bridges). These bridges ranged in height from 125 feet to 200 feet thus requiring the inspectors to climb at these heights to observe the contractors repairs. The rehabilitation on these structures included steel rehabilitation, replacement of high strength bolts, bridge painting, repair and replacement of existing damaged seismic catchers, cleansing of bearing seats and repair of concrete pedestals, cleaning scuppers and downspouts, replacement of existing expansion dams, bridge deck hydro-demolition and subsequent placement of latex modified concrete wearing surfaces, and other miscellaneous related construction. All this work was performed while maintaining traffic on I-80. The project has a construction value of $22.3 million and the bulk of this work was completed in 2012 with the project completion in the summer of 2013.
