Miami-Dade Surveying Term Agreement

Erdman Anthony was tasked with obtaining as-built data of outfall structures for the Department of Environmental Resource Management (DERM).  For this continuing survey services contract, DERM provided specific project areas for field reconnaissance which included using boats and GPS enabled photography to locate and identify outfall structures along canals, lakes, ponds, and the Intracoastal Waterway.  After the outfall structures were identified from the water, a ground based recon was performed to determine the terminus of each of the outfall pipes.  Level runs (upwards of 6 miles), meeting NGS Third Order Accuracy Standards, were performed to establish temporary benchmarks within the project area to assist with the as-built survey of the individual outfall structures.  As-built requirements included the following items:

  • Inverts of the structure ends of all barrels;

  • Water elevation at each structure;

  • Top of grade elevation;

  • Type of pipe, material, general condition of pipe and all measurements of headwalls and non-circular pipes;

  • and RTK GPS was utilized to obtain horizontal information for all structures and outfalls.
