Our Projects

Erdman Anthony provided commissioning services for the new 260,982-square-foot U.S. Federal Courthouse in Buffalo, NY.

The 10-story building now houses the U.S. District Court, U.S. Marshals, and General Services Administration offices.

Erdman Anthony assisted the project team by coordinating commissioning activities among the various contractors and coordinating schedule items with the general contractor. Using Microsoft Project scheduling software, Erdman Anthony was able to provide crucial insight to the owner and the general contractor about schedule integration and tasking to ensure that commissioning activities were carried out as efficiently as possible. The project schedule was crucial, and phased commissioning of the HVAC systems and floors was necessary to meet the owner’s needs.

Our firm also conducted biweekly commissioning-coordination meetings to ensure compliance with the owner’s schedule.

Systems that were commissioned included the central heating plant, including boilers and pumps; the central cooling plant, including chillers, pumps, and cooling towers; heat exchangers; central-station air handlers; humidifiers; variable air volume (VAV) terminal units with reheat coils; fan-powered VAV boxes; fan coils; exhaust fans; computer-room air-conditioning units; terminal heating equipment; building automation system controls (DDC); domestic water heating and recirculation equipment; the lighting system, including distribution and controls; the emergency generator; primary switchgear; distribution transformers; motor-control centers; and power metering and monitoring.

The owner followed the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED® for New Construction v2.1 (LEED-NC) rating system for the project. The project received LEED Gold certification.
