Our Projects

Erdman Anthony provided design for the resurfacing of a 1.2-mile section of SR 806 (Atlantic Avenue) through a downtown area of Delray Beach that serves as the gateway to the city, an access to the beach, and the route to the business district, which has shops, arts attractions, recreation destinations, and historic buildings.

This project included a number of Context Sensitive Design elements to improve the corridor for vehicular traffic, pedestrians, and businesses. Those elements included:

• Curb bulb-outs
• Bus stops
• Additional on-street parking
• Landscaping
• Paver-brick sidewalks
• Enhanced crosswalks
• Connection to public spaces
• New mast-arm signals
• Decorative lighting
• Turtle-sensitive lights

The improvements were designed to provide a safer and better flow of traffic while enhancing access to key residential and commercial areas. The pedestrian upgrades included the construction of new curb ramps and the installation of truncated domes at all existing ramps. Lighting and signals were analyzed for compliance with current state and federal design criteria.

Coordination with the city and community, civic, and business associations was a critical element of the project.
