This project aims to improve rush-hour traffic flow while reducing congestion-related accidents for the approximately 100,000 vehicles that move through the interchange daily.
Phase 2 work has included the construction of six new bridges and several on/off ramps and the widening and reconstruction of several miles of interstate highway. The work also has involved extensive earthwork, asphalt pavement, a new noise wall, numerous utility relocations, new traffic signals, new highway lighting, and the installation of new overhead sign structures.
To accommodate the needed improvements, extensive clearing and grubbing and the removal of four existing buildings were also required.
Phase 2 is expected to complete by the end of 2019.
Erdman Anthony has provided two office engineers and five inspectors for this project.
