The recently completed NYS Route 13 Connector Road in Horseheads, New York, is a transformative traffic solution for multiple reasons. It is a brand-new three-quarter mile road and a bridge – a construction rarity – that allows trucks to bypass residential streets completely as they travel to a busy industrial park.
The entire project area, which features roundabouts at either end, includes a range of safety improvements, an upgraded railroad crossing, and fortification of a 5,000-foot-long levee protecting the community in the event of a 100-year flood.
Erdman Anthony provided all the engineering design for this project, and, during construction, provided inspection services, secured permits, and coordinated with the utility companies.
