Efforts to design and build safer, more comfortable spaces for bicyclists have gained speed across the country. PeopleForBikes Coalition, a grassroots organization advocating for making every bike ride safer and more accessible, has released its list of the top 20 best new U.S. bike lanes of 2023, and it has ranked East Main Street in Rochester, New York, ninth.

Erdman Anthony designed the reconstruction of 0.90 miles of East Main Street to feature context-sensitive solutions that enhance safety and aesthetics, including a sidewalk-level one-way protected bicycle track.
