ROCHESTER, N.Y., November 28 — The American Council of Engineering Companies of New York (ACEC New York) has announced the winners of the 2024 Engineering Excellence Awards. Erdman Anthony, a Rochester, New York-based multidisciplinary firm specializing in infrastructure engineering and support services, has received an ACEC New York Silver award for its transportation project, the East Main Street Reconstruction in Rochester, New York.
Erdman Anthony provided the City of Rochester with street design and survey services for the project. The scope involved a Complete Streets approach that addressed deteriorated pavement and safety issues, improved traffic flow, and improved mobility for bicyclists and pedestrians. The protected one-way bicycle track has already been complimented by Reconnect Rochester, which cites the project as a favorable example of what can be done to better serve cycling communities. Additional features include new sidewalks and two new midblock marked crosswalks, 100 trees, decorative street lighting, benches, bicycle racks, and a landmark monument sign. The transformative project has drawn praise from residents, business owners, and commuters using all modes of transportation.
The enhanced beauty, function, and safety of East Main Street dovetails with the City of Rochester’s efforts to spur investment and economic development in the surrounding area. Erdman Anthony is proud to have brought to life a vision that builds community in this Rochester neighborhood.
