On September 25, 2021, PennDOT District 8-0’s Shrewsbury interchange replacement project in York County officially opened. The innovative project improves traffic safety and capacity for the growing commercial and residential communities served by Interstate 83 Exit 4, the first interchange when entering Pennsylvania from Maryland.

The project included widening the existing I-83 bridge, constructing a diverging diamond interchange, realignment and stream improvements for Deer Creek, and aesthetic enhancements.
