Sonora Avenue: Smoother, Safer Ride in Clewiston, FL

Author: Erdman Anthony/Thursday, July 15, 2021/Categories: In the Community, Our Industry, Our people

CR 832/Sonora Avenue, a two-lane, undivided rural roadway in the sugarcane agricultural area of Clewiston, Florida, is a corridor vital to the local community, Clewiston High School, and regional economy. Last fall, Hendry County began a milling and resurfacing project from W. C. Owen to Twin Lakes Drive to extend the roadway’s service life.

Erdman Anthony provided construction plans and support during construction. The drainage and ride characteristics were addressed by correcting the cross slopes and the pavement deficiencies. Additional improvements included sign replacements, updated pavement markings, minor bridge repairs, and sidewalk repairs with ADA upgrades. The project also involved coordination with the Hendry County School Board and South Central Florida Express (SCFE) railroad.

Construction is now complete, bringing smoother, safer travel for all users.
