Our Projects

Erdman Anthony provided commissioning and energy analysis services for Cayuga Medical Center’s new surgical center. The project consisted of a 16,400-square-foot addition and a 64,100-square-foot renovation constructed in phases. The project included seven operating rooms, a wound clinic, and areas for pre- and post-operative care, endoscopy, and patient and administrative support.

In cooperation with NYSERDA’s New Construction Program, Erdman Anthony provided technical assistance to the design team. Energy analysis was performed early in the design in order to provide cost and benefit feedback to the design team. This analysis included upgrades to the wall insulation, improved windows, reduced lighting power, desiccant dehumidification, and reduced fan power. At the project’s conclusion, the energy performance of the design was evaluated for financial incentives and LEED® credit.

Erdman Anthony’s commissioning services included design-phase activities such as providing commissioning specifications and reviewing the owner’s project requirements, basis of design, and design reviews.

The multiphase construction activities consisted of providing submittal reviews and a commissioning plan, conducting on-site progress-review meetings, site observations and witnessing, developing prefunctional checklists, developing and orchestrating functional performance tests, TAB review, trend analysis, and providing training and O&M manual reviews.

Our firm also completed and submitted a NYSERDA Building Commissioning Certification as part of commissioning support of NYSERDA’s New Construction incentive program.

The owner sought a LEED-NC v3.0 (2009) rating from the U.S. Green Building Council®. Erdman Anthony was able to meet the required commissioning criteria of Energy and Atmosphere Prerequisite 1 (EApr1) – Fundamental Commissioning of Building Energy Systems and of EAc3 – Enhanced Commissioning. Our firm also calculated the energy performance of the design for prerequisite EAp2 – Minimize Energy Performance and credit EAc1 – Optimize Energy Performance.

This project was the first to receive LEED certification under the LEED for Health Care protocol in New York state.
