Erdman Anthony provided preliminary design, final design, and construction inspection services in 2014 for the realignment of O’Connor Road in Fairport, NY. The $2.1 million Locally Administered Federal Aid project addressed safety and capacity issues by relocating approximately 1,400 feet of the road to form a four-way, signalized intersection with NY Route 31F and Jefferson Avenue.
Extensive coordination with state, federal, and local agencies was necessary to tackle the project’s social and environmental aspects, which included significant right-of-way acquisitions, avoidance of impact to federal wetlands, acquisition of public parkland, and the handling of petroleum-contaminated soil encountered during construction.
