Engineering Project Case Studies | Erdman Anthony

Renovation and Expansion

Garber Automotive purchased an existing dealership in Rochester, NY, and needed to renovate it and several additions to the building to meet present Honda standards where possible. The entire sales, customer service, and office areas were fully renovated. Additions were constructed to increase the number of service bays, parts storage, and provide a new conference room.

Erdman Anthony provided the design for the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in the building. Existing water and gas services were sufficiently sized, but a new electrical service was needed to provide sufficient power for the added space. New sanitary and storm laterals were extended from the building as needed. The following systems were affected:

  • Mechanical: Existing roof top gas fired, DX units were replaced, and additional units were provided for the expanded spaces. A new vehicle exhaust system was provided in the service bays.
  • Plumbing: Extended compressed-air system into the new service addition and plumbing services to the new/renovated restrooms and locker rooms were provided.
  • Electric: A new 800A, 208/120V service from local utility was provided, and nearly all the distribution panels were replaced.
  • Fire alarm: A new central fire alarm system for the entire building was provided.
