Roadway, Ramps, & Bridge Reconstruction - Philadelphia, PA

See PennDOT District 6-0’s comprehensive upgrades to I-95/Cottman Avenue-Princeton Avenue in Philadelphia, one of America’s true superhighways.

Erdman Anthony was the prime consultant for the I-95 Cottman-Princeton Avenue project (I-95 CP1/CP2) project. Services included construction observation and documentation for improvements to Cottman, Torresdale, and Princeton avenues, State Road, and New State Road. 

The project involved the construction of two new on-ramps to I-95 South, removal of the existing on-ramp bridge over State Road, three new retaining walls, demolition of six structures, intelligent transportation systems (ITS) elements, utility coordination, and other construction.

Erdman Anthony also was the prime consultant for the I-95 CP1/CP2 project. Services included construction observation and documentation for the complex Cottman Avenue-Princeton Avenue project, which consisted of the reconstruction and widening of the SR 95 mainline (average daily traffic: 170,000) to four lanes in each direction. 

Construction included one new on-ramp to I-95 South, upgrades to four existing ramps, upgrades and/or relocation of several local streets, demolition/replacement of seven structurally deficient bridges, widening of one bridge, relocation of water and sewer lines, new stormwater drainage, construction of 13 retaining walls, ITS upgrades, traffic signals, ADA curb ramps, and other construction. 

Street trees, decorative lighting, and other aesthetic treatments were also incorporated into the project, as were improvements for transit users, bicyclists, and pedestrians.
