Jewish Senior Life is a continuing care retirement community providing all levels of senior care, from independent living to skilled nursing care, on a 75-acre campus in Rochester, New York. The Jewish Home of Rochester provides a long-term, transitional, and memory care on the campus.
The Jewish Home of Rochester needed to replace the existing fire pump, transfer switch, controllers, and associated components that serve the automatic sprinkler and standpipe systems located within the tower. While these components were still operational, they were installed in the mid-1980s and were exhibiting increasing maintenance issues. Jewish Senior Life selected Erdman Anthony to provide code and system review and professional design services to replace the fire pump and associated components. Our team reviewed existing conditions, met with stakeholders, and reviewed the potential project plans with local authorities to confirm that the subsequent design phases included the scope of work required to maintain occupant safety as the property would be fully occupied during construction. Erdman Anthony also produced bid documents and performed construction-administration services on this project. The final installation came in on budget and occurred within the project’s tight schedule.
