Engineering Project Case Studies | Erdman Anthony

Engineering Design Services

Erdman Anthony provided design and engineering services as a subconsultant to convert Room I-57 in Kutztown University’s McFarland Student Union to an esports facility. Specifically, our team provided decorative-lighting design, electrical-power design, and low-voltage electrical-engineering services.

The project was contracted through a PASSHE open-ended agreement and represents the 11th work order for Erdman Anthony since obtaining the open-ended agreement in 2016.

The entire project was designed and constructed in under three months in order to meet the January 2020 opening deadline. Furthermore, a collaborative owner-design-builder approach was utilized in order to meet the university’s construction deadline.

Club and professional esports have grown rapidly in participation and viewership since their inception in the early 2000s. Online viewership of recent professional championship matches exceeded the viewership of both the NBA Finals and the World Series. Kutztown University has established an esports program and facility in order to enhance the student experience and increase enrollment.
