The Florida Department of Transportation selected Erdman Anthony to reconfigure the existing roadway to incorporate bike lanes along 36th Street, from North Australian Avenue to North Flagler Drive, in West Palm Beach. 36th Street is a city street and is part of the city’s master bicycle route system.
The 1.07-mile mobility project will include two new pedestrian bridges over Carver Canal on either side of the existing bridge, new sidewalks, and pedestrian-scale lighting along the corridor. In addition, the existing railroad crossings and ramps will be brought up to ADA standards.
The improvements will focus on reducing maintenance and enhancing safety and convenience for the traveling public and residents.
